A training workshop on non-verbal communication at the Faculty of Health Sciences

The Faculty of Health Sciences at Damascus University organized a workshop on “Non-verbal communication Tools: Body and Vocal Techniques” with the aim of developing students’ skills at the Department of Clinical Psychology.

Dean of the Faculty, Dr. Samer Mohsen, pointed out that the purpose of the workshop is to develop the skills and techniques that students must learn in the Department of Clinical Psychology outside the framework of the curriculum, which help build their professional personality after graduation.

During the workshop, artist Ward Ajeeb, a graduate of the Higher Institute of Dramatic Arts presented information about non-verbal communication in psychiatry and its importance in building trust between the psychiatrist and the patient, enhancing the patient's ability to open up and share feelings and thoughts honestly, in addition to general information about body expressions and real feelings that are not expressed verbally.

The practical side of the workshop focused on training students on interactive exercises for body control, body language and vocal elements of communication. Mr. Ajeeb pointed out in an interview with "Damascus University" website that there are common points between the academic study at the Higher Institute of Dramatic Arts and the study at the Department of Clinical Psychology through body tools and conscious expression.
