A talk on research methodologies in the Islamic Sharia sciences given by Dr. Mazen Al-Mubarak at the Faculty of Sharia.

Professor Dr. Mazen Al-Mubarak, dean of the Faculty of Arabic and Islamic Studies at Bilad Al Sham Universityand member of the Arabic Language Academy, gave a lecture at the Faculty of Sharia, Damascus University. Prof. Hassan Awad, dean of the Faculty of Sharia, professors and postgraduate students were in attendance.

 

Dr. Al-Mubarak began his talk by discussing the history of Damascus University, including its most significant campuses, notable alumni, and global reach. He briefly discussed the founding of the Damascus University’s Faculty of Sharia as well as a list of its notable faculty members.

 

Dr. Al-Mubarak emphasised that having a PhD does not imply that a person has become a scholar; rather, it qualifies him to be unique in research. He may succeed or fail, but the person who perseveres, works hard, and pursues research will be the best because research is an intellectual endeavour. He also pointed out that the word "research" was given to us by heavens and requires no interpretation.

 

After answering the postgraduate students’ queries, Dr. Al-Mubarak gave a special recommendation to the audience before calling the lecture to a close.
