A Journey through the Natural Heritage of Syria: a Scientific Symposium at the Faculty of Tourism

 The Faculty of Tourism at Damascus University organized a scientific symposium entitled “A Journey through the Natural Heritage of Syria,” on the occasion of World Environment Day, in cooperation with the National Union of Syrian Students. The event is directed to students of the faculty from various departments.

 

Dean of the Faculty, Prof. Issam Haidar, explained that the aim of this symposium is to introduce students to the elements of environmental and natural tourism in Syria as it is one of the basic types of tourism, stressing the importance of taking into account the natural elements in the Syrian environment.

 

The symposium was moderated by Deputy Dean for Scientific Affairs, Dr. Asmaa Al-Fawal. Lectures focused on mushrooms in the traditional Syrian environment and natural landscapes and unique species in Syria.

 

The symposium was attended by the Deputy Dean for Administrative Affairs, heads of department, and a number of professors and students.
