The third Syrian Book Fair 2024, opened yesterday at Al- Assad National Library in Damascus. The fair includes 41 diverse pavilions, including 9 pavilions for government agencies, including the pavilion of the Scientific Literature Magazine of Damascus University.
Faculty of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering at Damascus University opened the 7th edition of Graduation Projects Exhibition with the participation of a number of public and private universities and Syrian institutes. The Exhibition aims to provide a platform for students to display their innovative and distinguished projects, and to enhance cooperation between universities and investment entities.
Faculty of Arts and Humanities at Damascus University, represented by Dr. Mona Taameh, Head of Department of Arabic and Dr. Munira Faour, a faculty member, participated in the 10th Arabic Language International Conference, entitled “10 Years of Achievements in the Service of Arabic: (Arabic is a Crisis of a Nation, not a Language Crisis)" which was held in the United Arab Emirates on October 10-12. The main themes of the conference revolved around the future of Arabic language, the role of artificial intelligence, modern technologies and interactive strategies in developing curricula for teaching Arabic to native and non-native speakers, and the role of heads of Arabic language departments and language academies in drawing up a linguistic policy and scientific methodology to empower the Arabic language and enhance its position.
The National Authority for Quality and Accreditation at the Ministry of Higher Education conducted the Unified Medical Exam, September 2024, for sixth-year students, graduates of medical faculties in public and private universities, and graduates of non-Syrian universities.
The sixth lecture in the Civil Engineering Faculty workshop, titled "Climate Change – Reality and Challenges," addressed the topic of emissions resulting from mechanical and biological treatment methods for municipal solid waste. The lecture was delivered by Dr. Sherien Elagroudy from Egypt via Zoom to the students of the Faculty of Civil Engineering at Damascus University, under the theme "Greenhouse Gas Emissions, Recycling, and Waste Management and Climate Change Law and Policy."
The second day of the Second International Russian-Syrian Conference on Healthcare featured several key topics, focusing on psychiatry and neurology, a roundtable discussion on pediatrics, and lectures on biological safety and dermatological diseases.
The visit of the Russian delegation to University Hospital for Dermatology and Venereal Diseases at Damascus University included the signing of a joint scientific cooperation agreement between the Hospital, represented by its Director, Dr. Ali Ammar, with the Russian side, represented by the Russian Deputy Minister of Health and the chief dermatologist in Russia.
