Extraordinary General Assembly of the Francophone University Agency (AUF)

The Francophone University Agency (AUF) held at 1:00 pm Damascus time its extraordinary General Assembly in the presence of the presidents of the universities of the permanent members of the Agency,their delegates and the Regional Directors
Prof. Dr. Mhd Yasar Abdin, President of Damascus University attended this assembly with Prof. Dr. Mayssa Sioufi , Director of International and Cultural Relations, and Dr. Maya Hadeh, Director of the Digital Center on the behalf of Damascus University (which is a permanent member in the Agency).
This Assembly, which included about 285 participating members, was chaired by Prof. Dr. Soren Mihai Cîmpeanu, the current president of the Francophone Agency who served asformer Minister of Education in the Romanian Republic, in addition to Prof. Dr. Slim Khalbous, the current Director of the Agency andformer Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research in the Republic of Tunisia.
According to Dr. Hadeh, This meeting included a presentation of the basic directions in the strategic plan for the years 2021-2025 and constituted an opportunity to exchange views and vote on the proposed amendments to the Agency’s bylaw, the latest version of which was adopted at the Agency’s seventeenth General Assembly, held in Marrakesh on the 10th of May, 2017.
These amendments focused mainly on the globalization of world Francophone education, the development of scientific research and digital transformation in the universities of member states in addition to some administrative structural adjustments such as increasing the number of board members and establishing new councils for networking and strategic development for linkage and coordinationbetween member states and the development of the strategic directions of the Francophone University Agency.
